PLEASE NOTE:  The Museum & Art Gallery is currently CLOSED, to enable development work on the East Block of the Barracks.  A new museum is scheduled open in 2027 (subject to funding).

Berwick Museum & Art Gallery is situated within the Clock Block at Berwick Barracks. The building was designed by the architect Nicholas Hawksmoor and completed in 1721 – the first purpose built army barracks since Roman times.

The Museum & Art Gallery is located in the Berwick-Upon-Tweed Barracks (operated by English Heritage). Take the opportunity to enjoy other exhibitions during your visit too: The ‘By Beat of Drum’ exhibition, The King’s Own Scottish Borderers Museum and The Berwick Gymnasium Contemporary Art Gallery.
