Berwick Museum & Art Gallery will be open during the schools’ autumn half-term. Saturday 22 October – Sunday 30 October 2016 11.00am – 4.00pm each day. The exhibition of nearly all of the Burrell Collection paintings will still be on display, and there will be children’s activities arranged during the week. On Saturday 22 October, The Big Draw comes to Berwick and there will be arts and crafts activities on that day.

Berwick Literary Festival takes place from 20th to 23rd October 2016. One of the numerous events on offer is a talk by archivist Linda Bankier entitled *Hidden Treasures and Inspiration – Tales from Berwick Archives”. Dinah Ireland will give a talk on The Bondagers of Northumberland and South East Scotland, for Bowsden History Group on Monday 3rd October 2016 at 7.30pm. She will discuss the work they did, the costume they wore and the Bondage System under which, together with the ploughmen or hinds, they were employed. In Bowsden Village Hall, TD15 2TW. Berwick’s Heritage Open Days are taking place from 8th to 11th September 2016. Among the attractions are guided walks of the Greenses (Arabs and Fish Tales, Sat. 10.30am) and Ravensdowne and Quay Walls (Georgian Berwick, Fri/Sat. 2.30pm), led by Linda Bankier (booking required at the Tourist Information Centre – 01670 622155 or Berwick.tic@activenorthumberland.gov.uk). On Tuesday 16 August 2016 there will be free entry to Berwick Museum from 7.00pm to 8.00pm, to view the Flodden exhibition. The Flodden archer, Rusty Bodkins, will be there to demonstrate the use of the longbow and the billhook at the Battle of Flodden, and to talk about the different types of arrowhead and armour used by archers in the 16th century.
