  • Peregrini Heritage Festival 31/05/2017

    Over the weekend of 17th/18th June 2017, the second Peregrini Heritage Festival will be taking place on Holy Island. There will be exhibitions on project work, guided walks and talks, and arts activities. The heritage skills programme will also include pottery-making and firing, wool-preparation, dyeing and spinning, green wood whittling, wood-turning using a pole-lathe, bread-making, metal smithing & jewellery making.

    Saturday 17th June:  12.00 – 6.00pm

    Sunday 18th June:   12.00  – 6.00pm

    At the Village Hall and other parts of the island.

  • Record Office users 19/05/2017

    From 1st June 2017, all users of the Record Office will need to register for a CARN card (County Archive Research Network – a national scheme run by the Archives and Records Association). This means that on your next visit to the Record Office you should bring with you some proof of identity showing your name, permanent address, and signature.  Acceptable forms of identification are as follows:

    Driving licence (name, address and signature)
  • Meet the author 27/04/2017

    On Monday 22 May 2017, author John Donoghue will be talking about his book The Death’s Head Chess Club, which describes the unusual relationship which develops across a chessboard between a Jewish prisoner and an SS officer at Auschwitz. The event will be held at Berwick Library in the Record Office reading room, from 2.30 to 3.30pm. Tickets are bookable at £4.

  • Cowe’s exhibition 03/04/2017

    An exhibition on the history and restoration of Wm. Cowe & Sons’ building at 64-66 Bridge Street in Berwick will be on display there between Monday 17th and Sunday 23rd April 2017. Open 10am – 4pm daily, free admission.

    Until 2010 the premises housed ‘The Original Berwick Cockle Shop’ owned by William Cowe and Sons. This exhibition brings together material and objects from a number of sources. It will chart the history of the property and its occupants and will also tell the story of the famous Berwick Cockle.
