  • Battle of Carham 24/04/2018

    Clive Hallam-Baker will give a talk on “Carham 1018: the start of the Border story” to Bowsden History Group on Monday 7th May 2018 at 7.30pm, in Bowsden Village Hall. Free to members and children under 16; visitors £2 at the door; includes light refreshments.

    The talk will be followed at 9.00pm by the AGM of Bowsden History Group.

  • Lady Waterford bicentenary 09/04/2018

    An open weekend celebrating the life and legacy of Louisa, Marchioness of Waterford, will be held in Ford village on 14th and 15th April 2018. There will be events at Ford Castle and grounds (open 11am-5pm) with exhibitions about the history of the castle and estate and also a Record Office exhibition about Ford in the time of the Waterfords; at Lady Waterford Hall (open 11am-5pm) there will be guided tours at 11.30am and 2.00pm; St Michael & All Angels Church will be open dawn to dusk.

  • Museum opening 09/04/2018

    Berwick Museum & Art Gallery opens for the new season on Wednesday 28th March 2018, with two new temporary exhibitions on display:

    Entitled “Fragments”, the first exhibition is the final round up of the arts & culture strand of the Peregrini Project. It is displaying pots by Graham Taylor of Rothbury, who ran several pottery workshops at the museum last season, and will provide community engagement work at the museum this season. There is also a display of photographs by Jose Snook and poetry by Katrina Porteous.

  • Jim Clark weekend 04/04/2018

    As part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of racing driver Jim Clark, an Exhibition Weekend (from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th April 2018) at Chirnside Community Centre will include some photographs of Jim Clark provided from the collection held by Berwick Record Office. The exhibition is open 10am – 6.00pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10am – 4pm on Sunday.

    At the Granary Gallery in Berwick, the continuing exhibition, “The Archive of Smith, Berwick”, also includes some rare photographs of Jim Clark. (Open Weds-Sun, 11am-4pm, until 13th May.)
